Yoga Poses & Equipment oga Gear

Hi, my name is Ashley Ludman from Seaside Yoga and I'm here to tell you a little bit about Yoga Gear. So in, really, all you need for yoga is your body. But to enhance your practice, you'll probably need a few other things that might make your practice more comfortable for you. The first being a good yoga mat and a good mat is one that has enough traction for you so that you're, that you're maintaining your positions and you're not sliding all over the place. So this is the first key. The second, you'll see yoga blocks in yoga classes oftentimes. This helps to create various heights and various leverage for standing poses or seated poses. Oftentimes in meditation, I'll encourage students to put the blocks underneath their knees so their hips have the greater ease and flexibility. And as you'll notice, I'm sitting on a blanket, this helps to give my pelvis a little bit more cushion between the mat and the hard floor. It also helps for student who have tight hips, and once, once you come down into a cross-legged seat, you find yourself crouch over and your knees up to your chin, you may want to use a few more blankets to give you a little greater leverage. This is a meditation cushion, which will, in essence do the same thing. So as you sit a little taller on that cushion, your hips open up nicely. And to my right, these are various yoga bolsters. This is called the Pranayama Pillow and you can place it along the length of the spine, opens up the shoulders nicely and do a little bit of breath work from that, that position. And also a larger bolster helps to create a greater opening through the chest. It can also be used for Restorative Yoga. You can use it in Child's Pose as a support. So for example, coming into different poses where you want to relax and just stay in, in a pose such as those for an extended period of time, these balls are just very useful. And the one last key piece, especially for those of you who are challenge by your hamstrings or tight shoulders, the yoga strap is a key tool. So when you're reaching for your feet and you see everyone else in your yoga class, reaching and grabbing their feet, you can actually use the strap, that just gives you a little bit more leverage. So instead of struggling to get to your feet, you have a nice easy restful experience within your yoga practice. So that's, just to review of some yoga gear that may enhance your yoga experience. Thanks a lot!
